The personal aspiration of a devotee is to love Krishna, and this is achieved by meditating on his name, form, qualities and pastimes. Employing all of the senses in acts that inspire and enrich such meditation is the required practice.
And beyond generic love, if one seeks an intimate and deep love, then the matrix within which the aforementioned objects of meditation must be situated is Vrindavan. Everything must serve the concepts and context of Sri Vrindavan. All other holy places and manifestations of Godhead must be respected, but in approach we beseech them to guide us forth and toward Vrindavan.
